You practice the gift of gab and art of persuasion on kings, chancellors, mayors, ministers are all those that work in government. But you are a hired gun - you represent the interests of your client, not necessarily the interests of your own.
Your clients expect the very best advocacy from you, but your own moral compass determines how to best achieve their goals. You may practice your work on the up-and-up with full transparency, relying on skillful communication of well-researched policies...or you may be tempted to cut corners, relying on underhanded deals in smoke-filled back rooms. Regardless of your methods, you are a hired gun for influencing those with the most power in society.

There is a good chance you have previously met an elected official or bureaucrat in cities and villages you've previously traveled to, but if you travel somewhere new, there's a good chance that you know someone who knows someone in a position of public office, at the DM’s determination.
Suggested Characteristics
You know how to get in touch with society's decision-makers and you are good at reading their body language to determine how to sway them to your client's interests. Some lobbyists get the job done with good arguments, some rely on wining and dining, and some even resort to gold payments under the table - whatever get's the job done.
