A gambler is someone who has spent their whole life playing with luck, they go all in on everything they do, they always tempt luck and that can make every action they make either very rewarding or a fatal mistake.
They tend to hang out on very suspicious places, such as shady taverns and crime ridden cities, they also like the fancy casinos of the high society and will go there if they have enough money to play there.
"Life is a gamble, and you are more than willing to take any risk if it means getting a great reward"
- Skill Proficiencies: A gambler is proficent on both deception and sleight of hand, much like a criminal, a gambler spends much of their time on unsavory and criminal places, therefore they've learned a thing or two.
- Tool Proficiencies: A gambler will always have on their hands a Gaming Set.
- Languages: Funnily enough, a gambler is not really picky when it comes to the company they have while playing games and making gambles, they've learned to speak goblin with time due to how much time they've spent with creatures as greedy as themselves.
- Equipment: A Lucky Coin (a gambler may use it to trigger the background unique skill "Lucky throw"), a dark set of clothes, a pouch containing 25gp and a knife
You're always seen taking chances and somehow managing to pull off the most difficult stunts, maybe that's why you're still alive after taking that many leaps of faith, still, those same leaps of faith have also given you some unsavory experiences.
Choose whether you're more lucky or unlucky or why not? Throw a coin, if it heads you're a fortunate gambler and if it tails, you're not. This essentialy does nothing to you, but given the nature of this background you can take it as a bad or good omen

Lucky toss:
Every long rest, you may throw a Lucky Coin and call it instead of rolling a d20 to attack or perform an action or check thrice per coin you have, if you call it correctly, the action or attack will automatically be a critical success, but if you call it incorrectly, your attack or action will be a critical failure . The coin tosses will be regenerated every long rest
"High stakes, high risks"
You start having only one lucky coin but you can get more leveling up:

Suggested Characteristics
Preferably not on the lawful side of allignments, other than that this background can accomodate to most classes and characters with no issue
Contacts
Anyone who also gambles, that may include lowlifes on the taberns or socialites on the most exclusive casinos, that will depend on the gambler's backstory.
They are probably hunted by debt collectors, gambling is a bad habit.
Gamblers also tend to know the staff on taberns and casinos due to the frequency they're there, their relationships can be friendly or hostile depending on the gambler's personality
