Requirements: This background is unavailable to Clerics, Paladins, or Warlocks.
After spending years devoted to studying the texts, practices, structures, and tenets of your faith as a regular attendee of religious services, elders of your religion have recognized your speaking skills and seen fit to send you out into the world to share the good news of your chosen belief. However, you lack the healing skills of clerical workers, the authority of a devoted champion, and the cunning of more cult-like groups. Therefore, you choose instead to share your faith through volunteer efforts such as building homes, educating the poor, singing hymns with the downtrodden, tending fields, or running errands for the elderly and disabled.
- Skill Proficiencies: One of the following: Athletics, Insight, Performance, or Survival.
- Tool Proficiencies: Two of the following: Carpenter's Tools, Cobbler's Tools, Cook's Utensils, Leatherworker's Tools, Painter's Supplies, or Weaver's Tools.
- Languages: Common and one other of your choice.
- Equipment: A set of common clothes, a vial of spices and herbs to cook with, a pocketbook containing samples of your religious texts, a blank pocketbook with twelve pages, a small carving knife, 20ft of blue thread, and a coin purse containing 5 copper, 5 silver, and 5 gold.
Your kindness and empathy for those less fortunate than you are inspired by and equivalent to your passion for your chosen faith, and people seem somewhat more likely to be responsive to your efforts. You gain Expertise in Religion, and you may add a d6 to any Persuasion check when speaking to people or crowds for whom you've performed volunteer work.
