Something about you tends to put strangers at ease. When making a simple request that does not put someone in danger - such as shelter, food, or something similar - you will be granted it so long as those offering it do not have a reason to distrust you in particular and doing so does not break their core values or responsibilities. A guard who's been told not to let anyone into a fortress, for example, won't let you in, but he might give you some trail rations and point you towards the nearest roadhouse, or let you stay in the stables outside the fortress.

Some wanderers are blessed by nature itself and encouraged to take in its wonders. You learn the Druidcraft cantrip, and gain advantage on Survival checks to find food, water, and shelter - this should be portrayed as you simply being extraordinarily lucky, rather than incredibly skillful.
