After being severed from their colony, a lone Mind Flayer Renegade found a new type of connection between other creatures that they could not resist, as they formed a long-lasting relationship with another person who understood them. After the Renegade and the person shared their mutual feelings with each other, the renegade's new partner willingly became their thrall, though the renegade refused to take away their free will and mind as they swore to always protect their new love/friend and respect them the way they are.
Time passes and the Renegade's happiness would come to an end as their thrall disappears for unknown reasons. Were they kidnapped? Did they find something? The Renegade became worried, and they could not wait anymore as they began their search for answers.
Note: This is meant to be played by mind flayers only, but can easily be adopted for other races or classes that can have thralls, such as vampires.
- Skill Proficiencies: Based on your background and your current quest to find your thrall, you gain two skills of your choosing to aid you.
- Tool Proficiencies: Based on your background and your current quest to find your thrall, you are proficient in two types of tools that let you navigate around the world more easily.
- Languages: You learn the language of your thrall.
- Equipment: You own an item that your thrall gifted to you.
You trust your free-willed thrall no matter what, and you take their word as truth. Your alignment automatically changes to theirs, and you always believe that all their actions and lies have a good reason behind them.
Whenever you try to persuade or deceit people to help you or your thrall, you gain an advantage as people can see how much you care about them.
However, you gain disadvantage at any negative action done towards your thrall, directly or indirectly.
