You are a hunter of things so terrible that you dare not speak of them. Since you were young, your fearlessness in tracking and hunting monsters has made you peerless in your field. You have an uncanny knack for knowing where your prey hunts, eats, and sleeps. You have chosen a path that has left you scarred, mentally bruised and battered, and tougher now than when you slew your first trophy. Where the darkness scares most, you feel at home and welcome the night; for that's when the monsters come out. And that's when you prefer to hunt.
- Skill Proficiencies: Choose two from among Arcana, Investigation, Religion, or Survival
- Languages: Choose two, one of which must be Abyssal, Celestial, Deep Speech, Draconic, Infernal, Primordial, Sylvan, or Undercommon
- Equipment: A monster hunter’s pack (containing a chest, a crowbar, a hammer, three wooden stakes, a holy symbol, a flask of holy water, a set of manacles, a steel mirror, a flask of oil, a tinderbox, and 3 torches), one trinket of special significance (choose one or roll on the Horror Trinkets table after this background), a set of common clothes, and 1 sp.
Lure of the Hunt
Prior to becoming an adventurer, your path in life was defined by one jubilant moment, one fateful desperate shot of the bow, or one tragedy. Now you feel an overwhelming desire to hunt, to rid the realms of the most vile of monsters plaguing the citizenry. Choose a specific creature/monster that you have hunted and eliminated. This is your signature foe.

|
10
|
You attacked and killed a creature in haste, only discovering later that it was fairly intelligent and not being a threat.
|
Feature: Thrill of the Hunt
Without guile, you tell the tales of monsters sought, fought, and vanquished. You elaborate on the strengths and weaknesses of monsters out of duty to inform others, bring them courage, and guide them to their own victories. Through well earned admiration, commoners will extend you every courtesy and do their utmost to help you. If you have cleared the area around the immediate locale of a monstrous threat, you are gratefully granted room and board at any local inn (not to extend more than a ten day).
Suggested Characteristics
You have learned what makes the monsters of these realms tick. You are a survivor who knows how to be patient and wait for the right moment, the opportunity to strike.
