"What's the difference between a medic and a doctor?"
"A doctor helps you get better... A medic keeps you alive."
You served in one of the most horrifying aspects of wartime... Triage. Watching soldiers being dragged in, barely alive, and trusted with making sure they kept breathing, or at least make their passing a little easier. You've treated the worst wounds a living being can suffer, held the hands of dying soldiers, and have told the lie of "you'll be just fine" more times than you'd care to remember. Whether in the dirty, hastily constructed field hospitals, or on the battlefield itself, tending to the wounds of the dying while the sounds of war scream around you, you were the line between life and death for your comrades-in-arms.
- Skill Proficiencies: You gain proficiency in Medicine, plus one of the following: Deception, Persuasion, or Insight
- Tool Proficiencies: You gain proficiency with one of the following: Healer's Kit, Herbalist's Kit, Alchemist's Tools
- Languages: You gain a language of your choice. You likely would have picked up the language of the soldiers you served with.
- Equipment: A Healer's Kit, a uniform item designating you as a healer (i.e. a large red cross, a caduceus), a sentimental item from a patient, a set of common clothes, and a pouch containing 15gp
In the making of war, there are few cardinal sins. One of these is messing with "doc". You took care of your soldiers, and they loved you for it. Whenever you encounter current or former military, they will likely treat you as a dear friend.
