Trading means influencing the powerful - and if you really want to become powerful, you shouldn't be afraid to venture into the most remote corners of Farûn to open up new markets. As dangerous and bizarre as the Underdark may seem to the surface dwellers, its mysterious and dangerous inhabitants offer promising profits for those brave enough to venture there. Where deceit and cunning are worth more than gold and jewels, there the Netherrealm trader has his marketplace. If it's easier to evict an entire clan of svirfneblin than it is to negotiate with them over whether to farm the newly found mithrilade, or let the mind flayers give up new slaves in exchange for ancient, forbidden knowledge, he doesn't mind. As the leader of an expedition, he explores new trade routes for his clients - or for himself, always in search of wealth and influence.

As a valuable and feared influencer, you can count on certain benefits that come with your reputation. Your network of informants and those in power will provide you with room and board if necessary and pay for your funeral if necessary. In some cities and towns, a trading post provides a central place to meet other members of your estate, which can be a good place to meet potential patrons, allies, or mercenaries.
Guilds often wield enormous political power. If you are accused of a crime, your guild will support you if your innocence can be established or the crime is justified. You can also gain access to powerful political figures through your contacts and reputation, knowing that you may be able to help them gain more power. Such influence may require donations of money or magic items to the guild's treasury.
You must pay the guild 5 gp per month. If you miss payments, you must make back payments to stay in the guild's favor .
