Part mechanic, part gladiator, all violence.
Mechromancers are artificers with a particular bent for using their talents in the unmaking, rather than the making, of things. While some take employment working in organized fighting forces, mechromancers by habit tend to focus on self-sufficiency by themselves and their constructs - as a result, they focus on practical skills broadly and often touch on other schools of Artifice (for example, an armorer may still make use of Alchemical talents when devising more effective power sources for their armor). Many take their talents for destruction in the most profitable direction, working vicious pit fights where their arcane arms and armor are more than capable of standing against the most hulking brute.
- Skill Proficiencies: Choose two from Arcana, Medicine, Perception, and Survival.
- Tool Proficiencies: Choose two from Smith's tools, Woodcarver's Tools, Alchemist's Supplies, and Herbalism Kit.
- Equipment: An inexpensive but unusual weapon (one of your choice), a pit-fight or battle trophy, and a pouch containing 10 gp.
You can always find a place to perform in any place that features combat for entertainment — perhaps a gladiatorial arena or secret fighting club. At such a place, you receive free lodging and food of a modest or comfortable standard (depending on the quality of the establishment), as long as you perform each night. In addition, your performance makes you something of a local figure. When strangers recognize you in a town where you have performed, they typically take a liking to you.

You know the mercenary life as only someone who has experienced it can. You are able to identify mercenary companies by their emblems, and you know a little about any such company, including the names and reputations of its commanders and leaders, and who has hired them recently. You can find the taverns and festhalls where mercenaries abide in any area, as long as you speak the language. You can find mercenary work between adventures sufficient to maintain a comfortable lifestyle (see “Practicing a Profession" under “Downtime Activities” in chapter 8 of the Player’s Handbook).
