You are a dead spy, a shade.
You had a lifetime until you were recruited into the Scarlet Shadow, where you had to die, erase your tracks from the normal world, and become a shadow.
The secrets that lurk in the shadows, lurking over mortals suck all your life, faith and life, but you and your organization are willing to sacrifice everything hunting these evils and ensuring another day for mortals. Hiding in the shadows, you track down and eliminate any threat to the mortal world, be it sects, guilds or just mad mages.
Originally a government cell, the Scarlet Shadow is no longer limited to this, being independent.
Its members, called " Shades" are given a codename and a mask, taking an oath to show their true face only when their work is complete.
The use of their masks is for protection and espionage, either by wearing them or by taking them off and disguising themselves as an ordinary person; the truth is that you never really know a Shade.

Suggested Characteristics
Criminals might seem like villains on the surface, and many of them are villainous to the core. But some have an abundance of endearing, if not redeeming, characteristics. There might be honor among thieves, but criminals rarely show any respect for law or authority.
