In caves and other natural underground settings, the radius is limited to 100 feet. The spell is limited to 1/2 miles where nature has been replaced by construction, such as in dungeons and towns.

When you cast the spell, you instantly gain knowledge of buildings and another category of your choice about any of the following subjects as they relate to the area:

For example, you could determine the location of powerful undead in the area, and the location of any nearby towns, while using the bonus action to see any fauna or flora nearby
