You hail from the Forest of Anghmarra on the isle of Lesser Leyarain and have training in the religious rites associated with the Sagemother Anghmarra. These rites include things like haruspicy, rituals of soul departure, blessing and cursing, as well as rites on the solstices. You studied under an obeah of the Sagemother, or perhaps the Sage Obeah of the coven. Most initiates are satyrs from the village of Linfel, as it is a rather small community that observes her worship.
There are a number of covens spread through the forest, the most well known being the coven out of Linfel led by the venerable Sage Obeah Davrila. Covens never exceed nine members, but never fall below three as a rule. Each obeah has the right to choose an apprentice to replace them when the time comes; leaving a coven is taboo among the followers of the Sagemother. Members of each coven need not all be in the same place, indeed many choose to travel the isles; importantly they must convene once a year for the Soulmeet, a ritual held at midnight at the dawn of the new year. The Soulmeet allows for the Sagemother to directly speak with her followers, giving them insights for the coming year.
- Skill Proficiencies: Nature, Religion
- Tool Proficiencies: Alchemist's Supplies
- Languages: One of your choice.
- Equipment: A dagger used in ritual haruspicy, knucklebones, 5 sticks of incense, vestments, a set of common clothes, and a pouch containing 5 gp.
You are a trusted member of the Coven of the Sagemother, and can call upon its members for food, shelter, and sage counsel. Additionally, while in any forest with ties to the Feywild you cannot become lost and can safely choose the safest route (if one exists) through it.
Suggested Characteristics
Obeah initiates are shaped in large part by the obeah that tutored them, as well as their experiences living in relative seclusion. Being immersed in esoteric rituals from a young age, seeing the signs in the world from the Sagemother, and other ritualistic practices tend to shape their ideals. Their flaws might be a lack of awareness around other religions, shutting down in overly social settings, or simply being overly jaded.
