Homemaker

There are those who spend their lives in pursuit of lofty goals such as knowledge, glory, transcendence or civil service.  There are also those like you, who choose the humbler, though no less difficult path, of building and maintaining a home.  Setting aside noble aspirations and childhood visions of grandeur, you have put your shoulder to the wheel to provide a stable and safe home, raise a family, and in general to serve alongside other homemakers as the firm foundation of all society, without whom no sage, scholar, soldier or saint would ever come to be. 

You may have married young, continuing the traditions of the parents who raised you and inheriting the family land.  You may have lived a wild life before setting priorities straight and settling down.  You may have a big family, or live a quiet life with a spouse, or run a hostel or halfway house.
