You come from a far off land as a disgraced child or determined but lost warrior, but have become much more than an ordinary traveler through your journeys. At some point in your journey, whether through journeying up the lost volcano or battling and obtaining it, you have consumed the famed Hourai Elixir, that which makes you effectively unaging and undying, but your body is now constructed of fire. Your people know you as a Folk Hero or a Guide for Lost Souls that is feared by spirits and monsters everywhere.

You previously pursued a simple profession among the peasantry, perhaps as a farmer, miner, servant, shepherd, woodcutter, or gravedigger. But something happened that set you on a different path and marked you for greater things. This event must include drinking the Hourai Elixir
| d4 | Defining Event |
|---|---|
| 1 | I trained the peasantry to regain my honor and earned the Hourai Elixir. |
| 2 | I died fighting to stop a cataclysmic eruption and was reborn in the Hourai's Flames. |
| 3 | I was given the Elixir from an ally to prevent my death on the battlefield. |
| 4 | I was commended for my heroism by a noble and was given the Elixir in exchange for my servitude. |
Since you've been reconstructed to be made of flame, you no longer feel the effects of aging and are now effectively undying. If you would ordinarily die, you are disabled for 1d6+1 days and resurrect wherever your body lies, but you are completely engulfed in inextinguishable flame while doing so.

Because of your background working in disorienting or confusing environments, you are unable to become lost and will always know exactly where your destination is. You are well known by commoners as a trustworthy guide, no matter the environment.
Due to being made entirely of flames, you may create wings of fire that sprout from your shoulder blades, allowing you to fly. Your movement speed doubles in the air, but you will be deemed a threat to any commoners or enemies while flying by this way.
