Heroes Guild Apprentice Image

A Hero in Albion is not always some shining beacon of good who saves maidens and fights dragons (though that does tend to happen). Hero is a title bestowed upon you by the Guild of Heroes. It means you have the privilege of accepting work from the Guild, but more importantly you have the protection and advantages that come with being associated with the most powerful organization in Albion. The oath you take as a Hero is to defend Albion in times of war, protect the Guild from foreign and domestic threats, and to allow the Guild to take a cut of the reward from each quest completed in their name.

You may be native to Albion, taken in as a gifted orphaned child, or come from a far away land in search of a new life. No matter your past, you were lucky or brave to be given the opportunity to join into the prestigious Heroes' guild as an apprentice. During your time as an apprentice you may have specialized in combat or dungeoneering training, or spent most of your time practicing magic and studying Arcana or History within the Guild's Library. The Guildmaster and other Heroes acted as your teachers and mentors, some lead by example and some taught with harsh treatment.

Upon graduation you received your title, were gifted your Guild seal, and set out into the world to claim your fame and fortune.

Your childhood may have been happy, boring or depressing, but something happened that set you on a different path and marked you for greater things. Choose or randomly determine a defining event that marked you as worthy of entrance into the Heroes Guild.

d9 Defining Event
1 I excelled in an archery competition.
2 I saved people during a natural disaster.
3 I stood alone against a terrible monster.
4 I stole from a corrupt merchant to help the poor.
5 Rebelled from your Noble family and followed a Hero onto a quest.
6 I broke into a tyrant’s castle and stole weapons to arm the people.
7 I survived in the land around a volcano, drawing power from it and raising myself for years.
8 A lord rescinded an unpopular decree after I led a symbolic act of protest against it.
9 A celestial, fey, or similar creature gave me a blessing or revealed my secret origin.

Feature: Hero

Since you are a fully fledged Hero you have great opportunities. People generally respect your influence, though not everyone approves of the guild wholeheartedly. You can typically be recognized out of a crowd based on your equipment and demeanor. You are not above the law, but it doesn't hurt to have the Guild on your side if you get into trouble.

Hundreds of years ago, in the land of Albion, there existed a phenomena known as "Heroes". These extraordinarily gifted individuals had the power to rule the land, some particularly powerful ones even had the capabilities of changing and shaping the world as they saw fit, but fortunately, many of these powerful men and women belonged to the aptly named "Heroes' Guild". The Guild stood to champion all facets of Albion's people, even it's less scrupulous folk.
