Doctor of Death

As a young adult you poured yourself into your studies with the singular focus of helping people. You carefully studied and cultivated your skills as a Healer - studying the world around you and it many diverse humanoid biologies to learn to help as many as possible. Until a mysterious illness with unpredictable properties, a population gradually poisoned by traditional or arcane industry, or some other medical disaster, impossible to predict, resulted in the deaths of the innocent lives you were there to help. Whether accidental or just circumstantial, your professional and personal reputation have suffered terribly. First you were a pariah. Then, you became a boogeyman. Whether to clear your name, embrace your fate, or to take advantage, you have learned from your experience and discovered the source of the disaster that now defines you. In your pursuit of revenge, you've become what your reputation made you out to be - a Doctor of Death. Hide it as you may, seeking still to help the innocent as you might, your goal now is to use your experience and abilities to get yourself close to those responsible and deliver them one final, fatal, treatment.

Skill Proficiencies: Having survived the initial medical disaster yourself, and with it the angry mobs, distraught relatives, and blood-sworn oaths of vengeance, you have learned to live away from society when necessary and for survive the worst of it when it inevitably comes for you again.  You are proficient in Survival.

Having investigated the source of the medical disaster that set you on your path you have become intimately familiar with the pathogenic, toxic, mutagenic, poisonous, venomous, or enervative properties of a source of illness. You gain proficiency in one of: animal handling, arcana, medicine, or nature.

Tool Proficiencies: Your carefully practiced study of the treatment of pathogens and syndromes you have extensively studied pharmacology gaining proficiency in the use of Healers Kits and Herbalism Kits

And, sworn to develop your unique skills into tools of vengeance, you gain proficiency in the use of Poisoner's kits.

Languages: While you gain no proficiency in any spoken language, you have extensively studied the roots of multiple languages. You can add half your proficiency modifier to any check to understand or decipher the base meaning of any written language.

Equipment: You have a Healer's kit, an Herbalism kit, and a Poisoner's kit.
