You have spent your life in the service of The Order of Malacastus, dedicated to worshipping the Goddess Sixir through investigating disease and sickness, at any cost. You act as a ruthless agent of this shadowy organisation, travelling alone or in pairs to carry out the twisted mandate of information above all else, earning yourselves a grim reputation. You are not a healer— learning about disease is not the same thing as fighting it.
- Skill Proficiencies: Insight, Intimidation, Medicine
- Tool Proficiencies: Herbalism kit
- Languages: Two of your choice
- Equipment: A holy symbol (an open eye, for Sixir), a stack of papers (your findings, and fresh paper to write upon), a pouch of dried flower petals, ink and quill, the characteristic beaked-mask of your Order, heavy black cloak embroidered with eyes, and a pouch containing 15 gp.
As a Malacastan, you inspire fear and dread in those who recognise your garb - you are a symbol of disease and gruesome medical malpractice. As such, you are shunned and your presence is sometimes met with violence. However, this notoriety is not without its perks. No one will dare question your presence in an archive, library or temple to Sixir - your research, though often won through grotesque means, is far too valuable. Also, your anonymity as a faceless beaked-mask means its near impossible for anyone to hold a grudge against you personally. A silent brooding Malacastan figure does not need to speak to intimidate, and most will not even expect you to say a word. You are very good at non-verbal communication and you're never at risk of giving yourself away with rogue facial expressions.
