You have developed a knack for tracking wild animals and you understand what gains their trust. When you develop an animal friendship, there is an 80% chance the animal will become your companion.
Training an animal companion, though it takes time, comes naturally to you. Teaching your companion to obey simple commands, such as sit, lay, stay, play dead, etc., only takes one hour of training. Teaching your companion to do things, such as fetch or use a particular item, gather firewood, forage for food, or the like, requires three hours (one-hour increments) of training with the item in hand you are teaching them to fetch, use, or gather. Teaching your companion actions, such as bite, attack (knocking the enemy prone), or other actions one might see in battle takes 5 hours (one-hour increments) of training.
