Any time you perform a short or long rest, you may dedicate a portion of this time to study and identify a number of magical items in your possession equal to your proficiency modifier for a long rest, or half as many on a short rest. Further, you may add spells to a spell book or create magical scrolls from spells you know or have in a spell book you have access to in half the time.

Suggested Characteristics

Arcane scholars are devoted to the research of magic in all its forms, and intrinsically drawn to new knowledge regarding their studies. They tend to be spell casters, themselves, but plenty who lack such gifts are still drawn to the research of these fields.
