Reluctant Chosen One

You were born for this. 

The problem is . . . you don't want this for your life.   You don't want to fulfil some prophecy, something someone said about your destiny before you were even born . . . before you were even a thought in the lives of your parents.  You may fear that destiny, or mayhaps you just want a different life that isn't constrained by some words written by someone you never met.

So . . you ran.  In the dead of night, or when no one was watching you, or even with the help of those who don't wish the prophecy fulfilled, you took to ground and ran.  And you haven't stopped running since that memorable day. 

However, they're looking for you.  You've seen signs of them in the shadows, on your path.  Prophecy must come into being!.  Destiny must be met, and they will bring you back at all cost!!

The problem is, even if those looking for you don't realize it, and you don't know it yourself, you are running straight into the jaws of destiny.  Even as you try to escape prophecy, you are fulfilling it.

Only those who know of the prophecy would know you.  The rest of the world, those who don't know of the prophecy, or don't know that you are the "chosen one," they still see something special in you.  People want to be near you, though they probably wouldn't put it that way.  They would follow you into the jaws of hell itself.  You naturally attract others to you.  However, you know that this puts a brighter target on your back.  The more that people flock to your side, the more likely those of the prophecy will find you.  So, you do whatever you can to avoid being The Chosen.

Skill Proficiencies: Persuasion -  Deception    As the living embodiment of prophecy, you were raised to be a leader.  You try to hide it, thinking it will draw them to you, but it's part of who you are.  You can't help it.  And as one who is running away, you are developing a proficiency in hiding the truth from those who would find you.

Tool Proficiencies: In an effort to instill a measure of grace within you, you were taught the art of calligraphy from an early age.  The art of “fancy writing” as some would call it, it requires an incredible amount of patience, skill and an eye for detail.  And, the skill of writing brings with it various benefits.  

 

Languages: You know one additional language, only because this is the language your prophecy was written in.

Equipment: Calligrapher's Tools, a scroll case, a stolen totem from those who follow you, and an ornamental dagger too fancy to be useful.  (What is its purpose?)
