The Quori are Dreams incarnate, flitting from place to place amongst the minds of the sleeping masses. You are a child of the dream world, brought flesh and blood: the Kalashtar.

You exist in the realm of mortality, but through your blood flows the stuff of dreams. When you bleed, you bleed stardust and moonlight and things that cannot be explained by mortal tongue. When you sleep, you do not dream as your mortal body should, but instead drift amidst the seas of sleeping stars, held aloft by the thoughts and hopes of those around you, sometimes even catching a glimpse into their deepest desires.

Why are you here? How did you get here? What is your purpose? Will you help or harm? And what can a dream do when enacted upon the waking world?

Feature: Dream Floater

You are a creature that was born of dreams and given mortal form. It takes you no effort to switch between resting and wakefulness despite any strains to your body. And despite your own mortality, you do not yourself dream, but rather go into a state of unconsciousness where you can connect directly to the plane of dreams and travel through it as though astral projecting. While on the plane of dreams, you can attempt to seek out creatures you know or know of and attempt to view their dreams if they are dreaming at the time you are resting. These dreams and how useful they could be are up to the interpretation of your DM and could give you insight into a person's character, their fears, their desires, or just the really strange parts of their subconsciousness. Talk with your DM to work out how this feature will function for your game.

Suggested Characteristics

Kalashtar are born as all mortals are: infants. But they grow and learn much more quickly, connecting to strange and distant powers from a young age. This otherworldly knowledge often leaves certain marks on the personality and goals a Kalashtar might have.

d8 Personality Trait
1 I tend to float around instead of walk, giving me an ethereal, if somewhat creepy appearance.
2 I see dreams as the truest expression of a person's inner self and will immerse myself in conversation about them with those willing to share with me.
3 I speak aloud when thinking to myself, often as though to someone else. I might even believe there is someone else there.
4 I am quick to judge those around me based on their opinion of dreams and their meanings.
5 I can stare into the face of the worst sleep demons and nightmares without flinching.
6 My sleep patterns are erratic and confusing at best. I won't sleep for more than four hours at a time, and only when I can curl up in a safe, secure, and hard-to-reach place.
7 I often offend people by revealing details of their dreams they don't want made public. I don't mean to, and I want to connect with people. This is just the only way I know how.
8 When I get happy, I tend to switch between talking aloud and telepathically very rapidly, sometimes in the middle of my sentences.
d6 Ideal
1 The world of dreams is ever changing, so can the material world be. I see the world as it could be. (Good)
2 I seek to learn the darker secrets of dream manipulation, ways to puppet the wakers. (Evil)
3 I seek the logic and sense even in the most senseless of imaginations. Everything has a purpose. (Lawful)
4 Freedom and flight through the plane of dreams send a pang of desire through me. I wish to do the same always. (Chaotic)
5 I seek to find what is lost. Whether uncovering it is bad or good is irrelevant to the information I seek. (Neutral)
6 I find connections to people through their emotions and dreams, giving me further insight into the world around me. (Any)
d6 Bond
1 My guide is my constant companion, even in the daytime. I seek their counsel on everything.
2 I seek a better life for myself, even if it means others get hurt along the way.
3 I see dreams as the ultimate escape. I seek to help others enjoy their escapes as fully as possible because I cannot.
4 There is a dreaming stone that has been lost for generations. I will recover it at all costs.
5 I love the people I travel with, who trust me with their dreams. I would do anything for them.
6 There is no dream I will not search for the answers to the death of someone I loved.
d6 Flaw
1 I often seem to be floating in a daydream, not paying attention if I don't want to.
2 I will quote secrets from dreams that I should not know.
3 I often draw conclusions about people based on their dreams. I am often incorrect.
4 My deep knowledge of those around me means I never fully trust anyone I call a friend.
5 I secretly think things would be better if I could manipulate others to dream what I wanted them to, controlling their sleep.
6 I find I enjoy the pleasures of my material form far more than my astral one. I am weak for the vices of the city.
