Most Taurë-en-Faroth patrols feature six members and operate independently from other patrols or the tribal militia. All member are expert archers and feature stealth as a primary skillset. Many members develop deeper wilderness skills, including the ability to track, survive in the wild, and call on nature magic. Some members supplement the patrol with druidic or arcane magic, while others draw on the powers of the Seldarine to provide guidance and healing. Occasionally, multiple Taurë-en-Faroth patrols may join together to combat a larger threat. During times of war Taurë-en-Faroth patrols act as scout parties reporting enemy strengths and locations to the elven Army of the North.
Taurë-en-Faroth patrols specialize in hunting enemies while remaining unseen. If they are forced to take action they prefer to quietly snipe enemies from afar, silently infiltrate enemy camps to execute raids, or lay deadly ambushes to catch their enemy unawares. Taurë-en-Faroth spellcasters often avoid AOE fire spells, as they are aware of the damage uncontrolled wildfires can do to the forest.
Each Taurë-en-Faroth hunter is a seasoned woodland warrior and expert skirmisher, but often cross-trains in additional skills so the team can operate independently far from home. Roll 2d6, or select two or more options from the table below to determine your primary and secondary patrol roles:
d6 | Taurë-en-Faroth Patrol Specialty |
---|---|
1 | Wilderness Scout - trackers and survivalists |
2 | Longbow Sniper - expert marksmen |
3 | Shadow Stalker - adept at getting close to the enemy unseen |
4 | Woodland Warrior - combat specialist |
5 | Sylvan Spellcaster - druidic, divine or arcane support |
6 | Herbal Healer - mundane or magical healing |
Your emerald-green hooded cloak with its ornate elven-bow clasp ensures members of your tribe and neighboring tribes easily recognize your position as an elite Taurë-en-Faroth forest hunter. They recognize that your skills as a deep wood warrior are deadly, but that you are honorable and trustworthy, and that you are rarely far from your patrol kinsmen. They also know that many woodland tribes of the Sword Coast and Northwest Faerûn rely on the Taurë-en-Faroth patrols for protection, so denizens of the wood will often open their homes or provide aid when they can.
Members of your tribal militia treat you with respect bordering on reverence, as they understand your elite nature and the hardship and sacrifice you make traveling far from home to keep the forests safe. Members of the local militia will often take orders from you as if you are a senior militia officer.
Spell List
- Message Cantrip supports stealthy communication between patrol members
Spell Level | Spells |
---|---|
Cantrip | message |
- Because of their natural Elven connection to arcane magic, each Taurë-en-Faroth hunter is able to learn the 'Message' cantrip, whether they are an arcane spellcaster or not. This enables troop members to quietly communicate while on patrol.
- Each Patrol member wears a ring of copper wire wound several times around a finger, which serves as the Message cantrip's material focus.

Contacts
- The Caerilcarn, the council of the wood in the High Forest, sometimes call on Taurë-en-Faroth patrols to band together and help protect the Elven enclaves of the High Forest, the Silver Marches and other smaller Elven villages from large-scale threats, particularly marauding Orc or Bugbear hordes.
- The Taurë-en-Faroth patrols of the Northwest Faerûn are well known and respected by the High Forest-based Druids of Tall Trees and the Circle of the Stag. Many Taurë-en-Faroth patrol members are also members of Elven Druid circles.
- The Neverwinter Rangers and the Harpers of the Sword Coast are also aware of the Taurë-en-Faroth patrols. But the Taurë-en-Faroth reputation for distrust of non-sylvan elves makes the non-elven Harpers and Rangers wary of approaching them.
- Taurë-en-Faroth patrols are friendly to the clergy and devotes of the Sisters of the Moonlit Sky and the Silver Moon in the High Forest, for their unerring protection of the Unicorns. They are one of the few non-elven groups the Taurë-en-Faroth will actively assist.
- The High Forest Scouts, the Shadoweir Order, and the Shields of Hope ranger sisterhood are all known to the Taurë-en-Faroth hunters also. However, while they sometimes share similar causes, their methods for furthering their goals often clash. Tensions between the groups therefore remain high.
The far northern reaches of Northwest Faerûn, closer to Frozenfar is often protected by Ly-tel-quessir Taurë-en-Faroth packs (Lythari Forest Hunters). The Lythari Taurë-en-Faroth exclusively patrol in wolf form and cover wide ranges of the wilderness. On occasion the Lythari Taurë-en-Faroth will contact Sylvan Elf Taurë-en-Faroth patrols to pass on information, particularly when large enemy hordes form along the Spine of the World.
- The Lythari Taurë-en-Faroth can communicate pack-to-pack across vast distances through a distinct set of howls.
- Veteran sylvan elf Taurë-en-Faroth patrol members can understand a few of the Lythari's common warning howls, but cannot replicate their sound.
