You once acted as what is called a Beggar King; some act as crime lords that control and rule over the Urchins and beggars of the city where you live, providing structure and order to an otherwise chaotic existence. Other Kings act as information brokers, providing those same beggars and urchins with some form of stable income. They act to formalize and protect those that are not seen by the larger world whether that be for their own gain or the gain of the urchins.
- Skill Proficiencies: Investigation, Stealth
- Tool Proficiencies: One type of gaming set, thieves’ tools
- Equipment: A crowbar, a set of dark common clothes including a hood, and a pouch containing 15 gp
Feature: Beggar Network
You know how to contact beggars and become trustworthy in their eyes. You can attempt to learn or recall a piece of information regarding criminal activities, local politics, or current events; if they do not know that information, they often know where and from whom you can obtain it. Your DM might rule that the knowledge you seek is secreted away in an almost inaccessible place or that it cannot be found. Unearthing the deepest secrets of the people and places can require an adventure or even a whole campaign.
Suggested Characteristics
Criminals might seem like villains on the surface, and many of them are criminals to the core. But some have an abundance of endearing, if not redeeming, characteristics. There might be honor among thieves, but criminals rarely show any respect for law or authority.
