The Survey Corps is the branch of the Military most actively involved in direct combat with the giants, giant study, human expansion, and outside exploration. They have the best soldiers in the kingdom and despite having little success against the giants, they still symbolize the "hope of mankind" with their insignia being known as the "Wings of Freedom." They hope that someday, their efforts will change the world and they will be able to recover what has been taken away from humanity.
As a teen you enlisted in the academy to train for two hole years, this contained pain, hardship and hard survival but you survived, well partly at least. If you graduated in the top ten you had a easy choice to make, join the Military police and have a peaceful life guarding the Royal Family with a nice wage, or, not being a coward hiding behind the walls. You choose proudly to become a protector of the kingdom and fight the giant threat stalking this world with the Survey Corps.

During your time as a member in the Survey Corps, you had a specific role to play in your unit or army. Roll a d8 or choose from the options in the table below to determine your role:
d8 | Specialty |
---|---|
1 | Military Division Commander |
2 | Squad Captain |
3 | Squad Member |
4 | Infantry |
5 | Healer |
6 | Scout |
7 | Interceptor |
8 | Support staff (cook, blacksmith, or the like) |
You have a military rank from your career as a member in the Survey Corps. Members loyal to your former division still recognize your authority and influence, and they defer to you if they are of a lower rank. You can invoke your rank to exert influence over other soldiers and requisition simple equipment or horses for temporary use. You can also usually gain access to friendly military encampments and fortresses where your rank is recognized.
