Memories shape and change who we become, affecting future decision we make and changing the way we see the world.
You, however, can't seem to remember yours.
You can't remember your past. On occasion you might glimpse a brief flash, but the activities of your history continue to evade you. Whether your amnesia is due to trauma, a head wound, or a magical source, your decision to seek out who you used to be or to let it go and forge a new path lies with you.
You are seeing the world through virgin eyes, never having beheld nature's beauties or atrocities before (at least that you can remember). Each day brings a bounty of new sights, smells, and sounds. Maybe these new memories are in line with who you used to be, and maybe they're not. Only the future may tell.
- Skill Proficiencies: Any two skills of your choice except history
- Tool Proficiencies: Any one musical instrument or tools of your choice
- Languages: Any one of your choice
- Equipment: One set of traveler’s clothes, any one musical instrument or tools you are proficient with, a small piece of jewelry worth 10 gp you don't know the origin of, and a pouch containing 5 gp
Regardless of the method of your amnesia, it has left clues to how it may have happened. To determine clues of your history, roll on the table below or choose from the options provided.
d6 | Who Could You Have Been |
---|---|
1 | A red, scaly spell scar on the back of your neck |
2 | A tender lump on the back of your skull |
3 | A circular scar an inch to the right of your heart |
4 | A piece of jewelry you can't remove |
5 | Spellscars on the tips of your fingers |
6 | A pair of wing-shaped bruises on your shoulder blades |
Your lack of memory can often lead to awkward or unfortunate situations. However once people are made aware of your condition, they often offer a sense of sympathy, even going so far as to offer a place to stay or a bit of coin to help you along your way. Sometimes this attention isn't always wanted, as it can bring uncomfortable questions in a crowded tavern, but the general compassion gives you a sense of hope.
You can requisition civilians for a bit of help on your journey. They may offer small fare such as an apple or even just a well wish, however if you're lucky, they may even offer you a place to stay or some gold to keep you moving forward.
