Down in Yongardy they do things differently. They respect the Law. Every day there is a queue outside the courts to get a seat to see the latest up and coming barrister defend their case with three feet of steel. The people follow the careers of their favorite solicitors, watch all their cases, collect their portraits, and sneak into the court after hours to dab the patches of blood on white handkerchiefs. In Yongardy, they love the Law. You are a qualified barrister, granted license to don the wig and the leather, to take up steel on the trial floor, that ancient tradition you devoted so much of your life to.

Feature: Love of the Law

While the Law As Writ only holds absolute authority down in Yongardy, the celebrity of their Lawyers spreads much farther than that.  You never know where some small burg, or even large city, prefers Yongardy Law to whatever piecemeal system handed down from gods or kings.

You carry yourself with an authoritative air. When you speak, people listen, and your voice carries weight in matters of law. You can gain an audience with the captain of the guard or the primary authority on law and order in whatever town you’re in (though they are under no obligation to capitulate to your will).

You can also easily make acquaintance with local judges, law enforcement agents, legal arbitrators, and criminals. All these connections provide a broad range of informational access, legal support, and a modicum of social privilege.

Even where the Law as Writ is not officially recognized, you are often able to find those who need the assistance of a true Lawyer, or who simply want to bask in your presence.  Strangers may recognize you by your wig and leather, and may provide assistance, lodging, or other services required.

Suggested Characteristics

While some try to keep to the path of righteousness, others may fall to corruption, greed, and manipulation.
