Scrivener Image

The office worker of the fantasy realm, you learned how to read and write, and you decided you might as well get paid to do it. Perhaps you worked as a scribe for a noble, or just as a simple copier for the local paper - maybe you even had a hand in your own shop, where you would write letters for your customers in your beautiful calligraphy.

Let's be honest - you write nicely, but that isn't going to do a whole lot in combat (most of the time), but hey, if you live, you can tell your tale in a cool book. Despite that, you still find yourself setting off on an adventure, maybe for a mythical manuscript, or by simply travelling to the next city to attend the third annual Papyrus and Pens convention.

Skill Proficiencies: Choose two from the following - History, Arcana, and Investigation
Tool Proficiencies: Calligrapher's Supplies
Languages: One language of your choice
Equipment: A scroll case, a bottle of ink, an ink pen, 5 sheets of parchment, a set of smart-yet-casual work clothing, and a pouch containing your last paycheck (10 gp).

Feature: Filing Expert

Your office days have granted you a knowledge of storage spaces above that of an ordinary person. You can recall the location of any item you have stored in the past month, and you have advantage on any Intelligence (Investigation) check you make to find a specific item among other items (such as finding a specific book within a library, or a particular trinket within a vault) - you must know what you are looking for (you do not need to have seen it, but you must know vaguely what it looks like).

Suggested Characteristics

The only real defining trait of a scrivener is that all of them know how to read and write, or, rather, they should be able to do so. Other than that, you could be a real "regular joe", a famous author who makes sure you know it, or a tortured soul that was forced into doing taxes for a demon.
