Whether a distant past, recently, or even during your adventures for some extra coin, at one point in your life you worked at a tavern, and the skills you picked up will hopefully let you exceed at your next job - slaying monsters and delving into dungeons.
During your employment you performed multiple tasks like serving, cooking, cleaning, and maybe even entertaining. Through these, you have learnt how to steel your heart from the haggling of customers, persuade people to buy "just one more' tankard, built your muscles kicking out drunks and moving barrels, became nimble and dexterous from dodging brawls and rowdy customers, and (most importantly to your allies) how to cook slightly above average food.
- Skill Proficiencies: Choose 2 from Insight, Performance, and Persuasion.
- Tool Proficiencies: Choose 2 from Brewer's Supplies, Cook's Utensils, and one type of musical instrument.
- Equipment: A letter of recommendation from your boss (depending on how you left), a tavern uniform and apron, a pouch containing 10 gp, and an artisan tool or instrument.
You have knowledge on things like how much a meal should cost, the types of and how much customers and income a tavern gets based on the surrounding area, and other such related inquiries. Your time working in crowds also gives you advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks to locate people in crowds with considerable ease.
Suggested Characteristics
Not all tavern workers are the same - some bring a cheerful attitude to work everyday, while others achieve the bare minimum. Some are the complete opposite at work and at home - some love to work, and others only worked for the money.
