You've been tasked with looking after or being responsible for something of great importance. It may have been guarding and protecting a vault, cleaning and maintaining a building, or keeping records and documents safe and cared for.
Types of Custodians vary based on the kind of job they had. There are figures who were protecting something their whole life until something prompted them to escape, such as an evil employer overlooking the whole thing, or they've decided to steal the very item they've sworn to protect. There can also be darker figures that run around looking for 'cleaning' jobs, usually sought after by criminals to help them get rid of any and all evidence.
When you choose this background, work with your DM to determine the structure, building, or documents you've cared for, the importance of them, what your job was like, and why you moved on.

- Skill Proficiencies: Perception, Investigation
- Tool Proficiencies: Two sets of Artisan's Tools, or one set of Artisan's Tools and a Forgery Kit
- Equipment: a set of mundane keys, sketch of the place you worked at, two sets of Artisan's Tools, or one set of Artisan's Tools and a Forgery Kit, Common Clothes, pouch containing 15gp
With your experience as a Custodian, you can make a messy area look absolutely clean, or through illicit means, you can change pesky documents to make a crime or error more or less vanish. The DM might require a significant amount of time to clean something or even impossible, and not every document might not be altered
