Risen Fiend Image

Just as a few sinful angels find themselves cast down from Mount Celestia, on rare occasions a devil or demon may break away from their evil nature and in accordance with the laws of the universe cease to be the creature they once were. Awakening in the material plane with newly mortal flesh, you begin a new life.

Maybe you were a demon who felt a spark of humanity while shadowing a human life, or your mind was chained by the devilish heirarchy but by some miracle you were gifted free will. Maybe you were simply a rare occasion where the right circumstances pressed upon a humane quirk of yours.

You may continue on trying to shake off your old nature, deny your change and try to be accepted back by your kin, or try pursuing a path of light simply out of fear of returning to the lower planes. You have the spirit of a potential hero, but few can change so quickly from the life they once lived. Whether it's in your methods, attitude, ingrained beliefs, or something about how you carry yourself, people tend to fear you a little before they learn to admire (or at least respect) you.

You are slower to tire of travelling harsh environments such as snowy landscapes or volcanic regions

Suggested Characteristics

A risen fiend can be a setup for an archetypical antihero or a simply good-natured soul among evil. Whichever you choose, you are a being that has risen from evil ways but still carries some baggage from your old life.

d8 Personality Trait
1 I'm not quite used to maintaining a mortal body. Sometimes I forget about my loss of wings or new hygeine standards.
2 I have a phrase or code I go back to when I need to remind myself of my morals.
3 I feel uneasy around the mortals I used to treat like toys.
4 Wait! Let's sign a contract for that one. Y'know, it just feels right.
5 I always feel a need to rush along to the next task, never wasting time on frivolous matters.
6 I always keep a smirk on my face, even when the whole world's against me.
7 I prefer sleeping upside down if I can.
8 My friends know that just because I look sullen doesn't always mean I'm unhappy.
d6 Ideal
1 People. No matter what moral sacrifices I make, I don't betray friends. (Neutral)
2 Change. Strict ideals will betray you. I've seen it firsthand, and preyed on it once or twice myself. (Chaotic)
3 Life. I'm overjoyed just to be alive and free. This is something to protect. (Good)
4 Sincerity. I don't hide my marks or my past sins, and I don't lie about my beliefs. (Neutral)
5 Fairness. Playing favorites and crossing your own actions is a path to falling into sin. (Lawful)
6 Self-Improvement. I have the chance to become something new. (Any)
d6 Bond
1 I saw a spark of good in another one of my kind. I hope to meet them again and raise them from the depths.
2 I was taken in by a tough crew after I woke up, one that didn't waste time judging me for my ways.
3 My old master in the lower planes had plans for me, plans I now need to stop.
4 I don't remember who I was as a fiend. My marks are the only reasons I know what I am.
5 I hurt someone severely in my previous life. I now try to mend others lives however I can.
6 I woke up in someone else's body, someone I don't know the identity of.
d6 Flaw
1 My old methods have followed me into my new home. Namely lies and violence.
2 I'm not used to making my own decisions. I usually don't make very smart ones.
3 Murmers from my old kin follow me into my nightmares, but I try to pretend it isn't happening. I am not one of them anymore.
4 I don't understand why I was given a second chance. I don't think I'm good enough, and I'm waiting for the slip-up that sends me back down.
5 I have no idea how to hold a conversation with someone when I'm not trying to get something out of them.
6 You think the material plane is dangerous? Psh, this is nothing! Being a mortal is a piece of cake.
