As a part of a short rest you can scavenge items from your area to repair and sell later. Each short rest in a new area yields one pile of scrap. Each pile of scrap weighs 10 pounds. An area for the purpose of the ability is loosely defined as a building or large outdoor space with access to broken or discarded crafted objects. An exceptionally large building like a dungeon or castle may allow for multiple piles of scrap to be salvaged per rest at the DM's discretion. A character can own a number of scrap piles equal to half their proficiency bonus. Scrap can be used for the following purposes as long as the character has access to tinker's tools
grant advantage to the next downtime "work" role.
Used to craft 1 mundane item worth 20gp or less. This item cannot be sold and breaks down after 24 hours
