You have spent your life in the service of the Temple of the Red Shark La'aki, an ancient god. Your role is decided by what is necessary when you arrive on the island, and that is the role you stay with for your time with the Collective. You may be tasked with initiating newcomers, maintaining the Temple, or learning and reciting the rich oral history of the Collective, with all of these roles performed in sacred service to La'aki.

- Languages: Being a Piece of the Collective, you learn Deep Speech early in life in order to be able to communicate with La'aki himself. In addition, Celestial is another popular language to learn on the island.
- Equipment: A holy symbol (an initiation gift to you when you entered the Collective), a bottle of bioluminescent algae from the Temple beaches, vestments, a set of common clothes, and a pouch containing 20 gp.
As a Piece of the Collective, you are taken in, respected and supported by other member of the Collective. They have your trust and you have theirs, and they are willing to fight with you and for you whenever you need assistance. The other Pieces of the Collective are proficient at sailing, navigation, healing and magic, and many command the oceans around the Temple. However, due to the lack of communication outside the island and no other locations where the Collective resides, you will have to travel back to the Temple in order to request their service.
As long as you and you alone remain faithful to La'aki and the ideals of the Collective, they will always be receptive to your cause, even if it not necessarily 'good'. Their willingness to trust you gives you a great deal of power, which must be used responsibly.

The Collective has a strong sense of found family, and are held stable by their connections to each other. Equality is a major ideal of the Collective, as everyone on the island is required to work together in order to keep the Temple active. However, this faith in each other can lead to a harmful herd mentality and their incredibly trusting nature can cause them to be used by those who wish harm upon others.
