False Noble

You understand wealth, power, and privilege, but only in theory. You are new to this, came across this through dumb luck, because some of the Gods thought this might be funny, or just used your silver tongue and it took it farther than you thought it could have ever taken you on sheer luck. You now carry a noble title, own land collect taxes, and wields significant political influence, but have little to no practice with this so it might not be done well. This life style isn’t how you imagined your life you but accept it and take it by the horns and run with it, coming from an average life at its best, and a poor one on the bad days you vow that this power wont corrupt you and you will rule with as much compassion as possible, but who’s to say what that even means.

Work with your DM to come up with an appropriate title and determine how much authority that title carries. The title may or may not span your whole life, passing this down to children you may or may not have is a coin toss. Not only do you need to determine your noble title, but you should also work with the DM to describe how you stumbled upon this title, what family you have and what happens to them, and their influences on you

What was your life before this title and status of family. What kind of reputation does your family have among the other aristocrats of the region? How do the common people regard them?

What is your relationship in with your family before the title, and does anything change once you gain this title. Have you already inherited the title? How do you feel about that responsibility? How does the head of your family feel about your new life being swapped out for an adventuring career? Are you in your family’s good graces, or shunned by the rest of your family?

Criminals might seem like villains on the surface, and many of them are villainous to the core. But some have an abundance of endearing, if not redeeming, characteristics. There might be honor among thieves, but criminals rarely show any respect for law or authority, and now being put into authority you now question everything from a new perspective. You know nobles are accustomed to a different lifestyle and you now need to fit in with them. There are responsibilities you could not possibly be prepared for and now navigate it to the best of your abilities.
