And as long as you have your towel, you are a professional at persuading locals to aid your hitchhiking mission, from lifts to lending a toothbrush. It could be that you have travelled across planes of existence, timelines or just continents. No matter the scale, rain, misery, impoverishment and isolation are key features of your daily life and who would want a stable livelihood anyway?

You make friends wherever you go, and they just happen to be extremely rich, or foolish. You have advantage on Persuasion checks when asking for a lift, to borrow a basic item or asking for (reasonable) favours relating to hitchhiking at the DMs discretion. And as long as you have your towel.
Additionally, you are so accustomed to the hitchhiker lifestyle that you live like a king on a pauper's budget. You can have the Modest lifestyle (1gp) for 2sp instead.
