Spending much of your time on the Ethereal Plane, the eerie ambience and echoing silence has become comforting. As your mind bends and shapes itself around the growing reality that the Material Plane may be just out of reach... though more by choice than lack of ability to go back. Accepting guidance from entities beyond full understanding, you've come into possession of greater skills.

Something brought you to the Ethereal Plane. Were you left here by friends from your past? Did a spell go wrong or a portal break? Or did you simply travel here of your own free will? Work with your DM on how exactly your character came and went from the Plane prior to your campaign starting.
Your time spent on the Ethereal Plane, though longer than potentially desired, has been beneficial in more ways than one. Through continued isolation, and deep reflection as you wander, several things begin to make sense, and you begin to gain control and insight over not just yourself but others around you. As a result, you learn the cantrip "Mind Sliver" and add it to your known cantrips.
You also learn the spell "Hex" and do not need to prepare it daily. You may cast once per long rest without expelling the required material components - any cast after will function as a normal spell.
Your casting ability for both of these spells is Charisma.
