Born to a family of commoners that owned acres of farmland in the countryside, you know all about getting your hands dirty and don't shy away from hard work.
It was a simple life of tending to the animals and crops each year, and you never needed to worry about keeping yourself fed or sheltered from bad weather.
Your parents have since passed away, and the farm and its duties were left to you.
Through either bad luck or outside interference, your farmland has since become infertile soil, and you've been forced out of your simplistic lifestyle to survive.
You still own the deed to the farmland and the buildings that sit atop it, but it is, for lack of a better description, a desolate place.
On starting your journey, you have sold off the last of your farm animals for a mere 40 Gold.
For better or worse, the next chapter in your life has begun.
- Skill Proficiencies: You gain proficiency in the two of the following skills:

You may optionally choose only one skill and instead gain Expertise with it. - Tool Proficiencies: You gain proficiency in one Musical Instrument of your choice.
- Languages: You learn one Language of your choice.
- Equipment: A set of Commoner's Clothing (5 sp)
Explorer's Pack (10 gp) Includes a backpack, a bedroll, a mess kit, a tinderbox, 10 torches, 10 days of rations, and a waterskin. The pack also has 50 feet of hempen rope strapped to the side of it.
Optionally, you may also begin with a Mule (8 gp) and enough Feed for it to survive twenty days (1 sp), as well as a Cart (15 gp) to hold the feed and other items.
You may forgo these three optional items to instead gain the direct value of them as bonus starting money. (23 gp, 1 sp)
And 40 gp from selling your livestock.
Having been raised your entire life on the farmer's trade, you have no issue finding honest work with the commonfolk. In any area where there would be farms, you can offer your services to receive payment and also find temporary shelter during your employment. Shelter can vary between Squalid and Modest, and the average pay for doing simple farm work is 12 sp for every six hours of work.
You also know where to find local markets to buy and sell livestock, seeds, and farming equipment to potentially continue your trade.
Contacts
The simple hard-working commoner are your kinfolk, and if for nothing else but a similar status, you are accepted by them.
You may find refuge in a farmer's home, mill, or barn at the charity of the owner; you may be asked to pay a fee for this service.
While in a location like this, you and your companions will not have to worry about food or accommodations.
In dangerous scenarios, commonfolk may even side with you in battle if you have first proven yourself in some way or another to them. They'll be less inclined to assist you if you are wanted by local authorities, however.
