Mad Doll Image

You were once a child's porcelain doll, beloved and cared for, until you were misplaced or thrown out. You stumbled into sentience and have but vague memories of your child: a name; a collection of smiles; the weight of a hug.

You do not know why you are now you, as opposed to a mere object, but as you try to unravel this mystery, you mind begins to follow suit... You want to find your child. You don't. (What if they threw you out?) You are real. You're in your child's dream, waiting for them to wake up. Nothing is real. If a doll can think, who's to say a chair can't? Every time someone sits in a chair, does the chair feel pain? Do you feel pain? If you chip off a piece of your face, will what's left become infected? If it doesn't, can you even be considered alive? Is this what being mad feels like? How can you be mad if you're not alive? How can you be alive if you can remember the exact moment you took your first breath? But you don't breathe. You don't eat. Everything that's alive needs to eat. You're not really alive, are you? Does it matter? It doesn't matter. You are alive/dead/never alive and you are mad/sane/incapable of thought.

Cracks

Due to the instability of your mental state, you have some odd... quirks.

d10 Cracks
1 You know your child threw you away after years of love, but you don't know why. The uncertainty gnaws at you.
2 The back of your porcelain head is caved in; you were either violently thrown, or bludgeoned. You are driven to find something perfect to mend it.
3 The careful paint of your features is worn and you meticulously fill in the colors of your eyes, mouth, brows, and cheeks at every opportunity, with whatever you have available.
4 Your torso is made of fabric and filling, not porcelain. You squirrel away bits of people's clothes and hair, fallen leaves, hides, and whatever else you can get your hands on to keep yourself "full".
5 You belonged to a collector and were never allowed to play with children before you were alive. You will not pass up the opportunity now.
6 Your child would sing you a lullaby before bedtime. You no longer remember the words. Whenever you seek out a musician to teach it to you, they never know it either. They're lying to you.
7 Though you don't need to eat, you always have sweets on hand; you spend as much of your money as you're able on sweets before you make other purchases.
8 You are illiterate, but are fully conversant with rebuses.
9 You've never met another animate toy, but you can't be the only one in existence. Because of this you have an inherent distrust of other toys, and have been known to destroy them rather than wait and see if they're sentient.
10 You don't know how or why, but you know that YOU left your child, and not the other way around. You wish you could find them. You must know why you left.

Feature: Children's Toy

You spent the time before your life as a toy for children, and you find that they still gravitate towards you now: you can speak with and gain information from children without intimidating, persuading, or deceiving them. If an adult has not seen you speak or move, they will assume you are an inanimate toy until you do so.
