You have a contact within a heretical or secular society. This organization could be actively opposed to the rule of the gods or represent servants of powers that are not gods (like diabolists). Alternatively it could be a loose association of free-thinking individuals dedicated to secularism.

Apostates are shaped by their experiences growing up in deeply religious societies. They may have had poor experiences with local clergy, or they may be fond of ideas and philosophies that are considered heretical to a particular community.
