The undead horrors stalking the wastelands and grim forests of your home have taught you how to survive unseen in a hostile environment and though you eventually found your way to the Prime Material you never truly adjusted to your new life, your experiences haunting you as you find yourself looking over your shoulder for the rest of your days.

Shadow's Taint
Your connection to the Shadowfell is concentrated on a certain part of you, metaphysical or physical. Use the table below to determine what part that is.

Eyes. Your eyes are either purely blank or purely black.

Skin. Wisps of darkness make you appear slightly ethereal as they emit like smoke from your skin. These can pass through clothing.

Scar. You have a single scar on your body that is unique shaped as a souvenir from the darkness. It is cold to the touch.

Soul. Your tainted soul makes others feel discomfort around you, as though they are being watched.

Voice. Whenever you speak, slight puffs of darkness emit from your mouth, and your voice is slightly scratchy and unnatural.

Limbs. Your arms and legs are covered in black markings that resemble crawling shadows.

Feature: Shadow Visions
You are occasionally given visions or insights about the intentions or actions of others. These visions come from your connection with the Shadowfell. If you study a person for roughly a minute through either conversation or their actions, you can sometimes get an idea of the weight of their sins. This ability doesn't always work, and what information you get, if any, is at the DM's discretion.
Suggested Characteristics
Shadowborn bear the physical and emotional scars of their life in the Shadowfell. They are slow to trust, but when they do they can be fiercely loyal. Whether through luck, strength, sacrifice, or some combination of the three they have escaped their horrific homeland, and the memories of that place haunt their dreams.
