Faris

You are a respected warrior granted the prestigious recognition of an Ashmiri noble or faris. Although your title does not automatically confer lands, you wield political and military influence. Unlike other nobles, you did not grow up as pampered aristocrat unfamiliar with work or discomfort. You spent your whole life in service of the taj (or crown), whether by your military prowess, strategic mind, exemplary piety or inspirational leadership. Furussia (or knighthood), is among the lowest noble titles in Ashmiri society, but it can be a path to higher status. Discuss with your DM who conferred this title to you. Was it another faris? Or was it a noble seyed (lord) or seyida (lady)? What are your current responsibilities towards them and the taj?

You have three retainers that assist you in your duties. One of your retainers may be a young noble who serves as your murafiq (or squire), aiding you in exchange for training on his or her own path to furussia. Your two remaining retainers might include a groom to care for your horse and a servant who polishes your armor (and even helps you put it on). You can discuss with your DM who your retainers are and what are their responsibilities towards you.

Most fursan (plural of faris) possess a chivalrous demeanor, exemplifying unwavering loyalty to the taj and a strong sense of honor. Their courage in battle is matched only by their cunning, tenacity and adaptability in the face of danger, making them respected and sometimes feared individuals in both Ashmiri and foreign society.
