Maddened Image

Your sanity left you long ago. Perhaps you were cursed, or contacted, by one of the Great Old Ones, or perhaps you suffered a traumatic event that caved your mind under its stress. Beasts only you can see hunt you, dangers from physical sources pose you no threat, and the inner workings of the fabric of reality are simple concepts to you. You hear sounds, see visions, and feel presences that no one else can. You may question your own sanity, or perhaps that of those around you, but only one thing can be certain - the world you see is not the same as that which is seen by others, and you are certain that only you know the truth.

Skill Proficiencies: Choose two from among Perception, Deception, Intimidation, and Persuasion

Equipment: A notebook filled with scrawled notes of your visions or experiences, a silver mirror, an Explorer’s pack, and a worn leather pouch containing 5 gold pieces

Madness

A lost mind can go to many different places. You see reality through a very warped lens, but it's dissension from reality is, at least, consistent. Choose a manifestation of your madness, or roll for one on the Madness Table.

d4 Madness
1 Paranoia - Everything is hell bent on your destruction.
2 Mania - Your understanding is deranged, reasoning is absent, and you are always in an unnecessary state of excitement.
3 Incoherence - Your emotions are mismatched, you forget things, and sometimes your judgement has wandered off.
4 Split Personality - You aren't the only tenant of your body, sometimes you have to share with the other(s).

Feature: Shattered Mind

Those who look into your eyes can see nothing beyond them. Though they might try, no one can divine your thoughts or intentions. Any creature that attempts to read your mind must succeed on a Wisdom Saving Throw (DC10 + Your Intelligence Modifier), or be plunged into madness themselves.

On a failed save, the character must roll on the Long-Term Madness Table (DMG)

A maddened mind is kept private for good reason...
