As a child you lived on the streets. Stealing to live, you managed to become quite the thief. Until one day you attempted to steal from a local wizard. He caught you, and instead of turning you in, he took you as an apprentice. Now you are training in magic, but still have your crafty ways.
- Skill Proficiencies: These various skills you still carry with you from when you were a thief.
- Tool Proficiencies: Your master was a potion-maker or a item smith, and brought you up in his ways.
- Languages: Your master wasn't human, and imparted upon you knowledge of his ethnic language.
You have knowledge of many wizards that your master knew. Some wizards will help you out if you need shelter, or will let you borrow ingredients. You also are well versed in magic scrolls and items. You can decipher any scroll in 10 minutes, and can identify common, uncommon and rare magic items over the course of a short rest, without a spell slot.

You will have people who are out for revenge on what you have taken. Many people from your village don't trust you still.
