Not only have you dedicated your life to scholarship, but you have become an educator and researcher in a specialized field of your interest. Whether you studied the arcane or the history of blacksmithing, you have discovered that your purpose in life is to gather knowledge and mentor others in their academic endeavors.
Professors do not just include lecturers and educators within classrooms. University researchers, archivists, librarians, and other collegiate faculty will also benefit from this background. Any occupation requiring disciplinary knowledge and further education should also consider this option.

Ink and Quill
If your character desires money or resources, you can present your certificate to any educational institution to host a lecturing series for interested parties or students. Depending on your discipline and the DM's discretion, roll a skill check to determine how well you succeed and how it affects your academic reputation.
In addition, you also gain access to facilities exclusive to educational institutions. This could mean faculty libraries, magical laboratories, or archival documents not necessarily open to the public.
Contacts
As an educator, your contacts will all be within the realm of academia. To be more specific, your contacts will relate specifically to your discipline. If you studied Fiends and their origins, your contacts may be in areas with high fiend activity. If you were a librarian, your correspondences may be in Candlekeep, other libraries, or even residing in archives.
