You are being who has been altered with arcane magic, strengthened to fulfill a single purpose: protect your Bondperson. Mirrors are magically linked to another person (the Bond), usually someone of high social status. Mirrors are their Bond's shadow, becoming nearly anything the Bond could need. First and foremost, a Mirror protects the life of their Bond, and will kill or be killed in their service. Whoever you were before your oath, your life is forever changed by your Bond.
You have been trained your entire life, developing a highly specialized skill set uncommon outside the highest echelons of society. The loyalty of your guild is renowned, and you know cities from the hidden shadows of the underground to the daylight streets of the common people: traveling merchants, peasants, working class, and shopkeepers alike. You are also familiar with the subtle workings of court life and its people, from the lowest servants to the highest rulers.
How did you come in to the service of your Bond? Were you close friends, and took a lifelong oath to protect them? Did you choose a life of service as an act of altruism, or repentance? Were you pressed in to service unwillingly? Whatever the reason, you enter the life of an adventurer irrevocably linked to duty.
You keep your ear to the ground in the cities you spend the most time in, and are in frequent contact with people in the many segments of society. These people might be associated with the criminal underworld, the rough-and-tumble folk of the streets, or members of high society. This connection comes in the form of a contact in any city you visit, a person who provides information about the people and places of the local area. You also know the infrastructure, from the corridors and hidden passageways of the palaces to the the secret patterns and flow to cities, and can find passages through the sprawl that others would miss. When you are not in combat, you (and companions you lead) can travel between any two locations in the city twice as fast as your speed would normally allow.
