Tenders (Humblewood) Image

You served as a member of the Tenders, an order sworn to uphold the balance of natural forces. You've studied the interconnectedness of life and have a great appreciation for the natural world around you; from the smallest bugs, to the largest redwood trees. You've helped heal the Scorched Grove, the Crystal Expanse, or the Tanglewinds, using treant magic. You possess a deep insight into the Great Rhythm and act as a bridge between the will of the Wood and the people who live there.

Life of Service

What made you want to become a Tender? Were you born into it? Did something happen in your childhood that made you want to join? Or did life just bring you to them?

d8 Life of Service
1 I wanted to connect with the Great Rhythm.
2 My family has been a member of the Tenders for generations, and I'm proud to continue that line.
3 I needed a new life, a new order, and I wanted to do something good.
4 I wanted to find an organized, spiritually significant community after a life-altering event.
5 I was rescued by Tenders as a child, and I grew up wanting to do that for someone else.
6 I needed to commune with nature, far from civilization.
7 I stumbled upon a Branch and just never left.
8 I was forced into service as punishment.

Feature: Respect of the Wood

The Tenders have a reputation as healers, defenders, and wisefolk across Everden. Most people will see you as a pillar of the community and offer food and housing for no cost should you ask, or give you discounted prices at taverns and inns. If the community has a particular connection with the Tenders, such as saving a village or running out monsters, then you gain advantage on charisma checks when speaking with the villagers, to the DM's discretion. People respect you and are generally willing to help if you need it.

Spell List

Suggested Characteristics

While certain Tenders dedicated their lives to healing the Scorched Grove, others pledged to mend the world in different ways. Some organized into a force of field medics to aid during natural upheavals, while others became healers, teachers, and tree-shapers. What is your passion?

d8 Personality Trait
1 I’ve been isolated in my Branch for so long that I don't quite know how to interact with the outside world anymore.
2 I am utterly serene, even in the face of disaster.
3 The leader of my community had something wise to say on every topic, and I am eager to share that wisdom.
4 I feel tremendous empathy for all who suffer.
5 I will talk about nature, balance, and the Great Rhythm to any who will listen.
6 I believe in the balance of nature, but that doesn't always align with what other Tenders think is balance.
7 I often get lost in my own thoughts and contemplation, becoming oblivious to my surroundings.
8 Large cities are intimidating; I prefer the sounds and smells of nature.
d6 Ideal
1 Greater Good. My gifts are meant to be shared with all, not used for my own benefit. (Good)
2 Balance. The world must maintain balance, and I will do all that I can to do so. (Lawful)
3 Free Thinking. Inquiry and curiosity are the pillars of progress. (Chaotic)
4 Power. Becoming a Tender has made me powerful, and I will use that power for my own gain. (Evil)
5 Live and Let Live. Meddling in the affairs of others only causes trouble. (Neutral)
6 Self-Knowledge. If you know yourself, there’s nothing left to know. (Any)
d6 Bond
1 Nothing is more important than the other members of my Branch.
2 I became a Tender to hide from the ones who might still be hunting me. I must someday confront them.
3 I’m still seeking the enlightenment I thought I'd get by joining the order, but it still eludes me.
4 I take great pride in the work my family has been doing for generations.
5 I helped save a village, once. I still go visit from time to time.
6 Nothing can stop me from healing the imbalance of our world.
d6 Flaw
1 Sometimes, I feel like the Tenders are too uptight.
2 People call me a goody two-shoes.
3 I am dogmatic in my thoughts and philosophy.
4 I always see the best in people. Unfortunately, this often leads to tragedy.
5 I’d risk too much to uncover a lost bit of knowledge.
6 I like keeping secrets and won’t share them with anyone.
