Born into a secretive and religious cult you never knew life outside of it. From very young you were taught religious obedience and tribute to gods of death. And unbeknownst to you, raised for sacrifice. Were you revered as a messiah for them? Untouched and a holy relic? Or were you just treated as one of them, lived among them, apart of them, a pig raised for slaughter.
This may of been just a sacrifice or so the god could use your body to enter the mortal coil. Whether or not that was the god's will or not is up to the player. Regardless of your turn from your original god, you may still be favored by them.
Somehow you found out about the sacrifice and decided to make a run for it. Was your faith shaken before hand by contraband or a situation that occurred?
The sacrifice was intended because you are blessed by or created for a Deity of Death. Because of this death comes natural at your hands and you have what some would say, an unnatural control over it. Regardless of your deity's nature, death is a natural happenstance to you and brings you no emotional labor at bringing death to others or seeing death. You do not understand why so many fear it and why there's such a negative connotation with being able to kill people and control the undead in both body and spirit as naturally and easily as you can.
Because you are blessed or favored, you have the ability to control all facets of death, through hastening others death and preventing it in others. Death comes for all in the end and in it there is a comfort, although this may be your attitude since you have a strange relationship with death and possibly are not guaranteed it yourself. If you are ever caught by the cult, it may mean a completion of the sacrifice, you cannot let them find you and you cannot let them catch you.
- Skill Proficiencies: Insight or Stealth, Religion or History, Performance or Deception and Persuasion
- Tool Proficiencies: Proficiency in Herbalism kit due to the self-sufficient nature of the cult.
Proficiency in an instrument of choice for worship.
- Languages: One of your choice
- Equipment: A holy symbol engraved with your cult's symbol, a melee weapon stolen from the cult, and a pouch containing a determined amount of gp.
As one blessed by or created for a deity, you have reverence from those in your cult. you command the respect of those who share your faith (and cult) and you can perform the religious ceremonies of your deity. You and your adventuring companions can expect to receive free healing and care at a temple, shrine, or other established presence of your faith, though you must provide any material components needed for spells. Those who share your religion will support you (but only you) at a modest lifestyle
When encountering members of the cult, they have a sort of reverence towards you that may give them disadvantage in attack roles. They also will not kill you as they intend to bring you back for the sacrifice.
