Child Of Umbra Image

Whether by birth or by adoption, you are a member of the Umbra-kai community in Sigil. Formerly a nomadic culture that wandered the planes, the Umbra-kai now have settled here, in the heart of the multiverse.

Choose a role within the community, and work with the DM to detail the nature of your service. Were you a carpenter, building tools and homes out of exotic materials? Or were you a potter, who crafted vessels both mundane and sacred? Perhaps you were a healer or midwife, or even a cook who tended to the great feasts of the Umbra-kai holy days.

Skill Proficiencies: Insight, Religion
Tool Proficiencies: One of your choice
Languages: Primordial
Equipment: A set of tools, a voting totem, a symbol of the Skull Mother, a simple weapon of your own making, a set of common clothes, and a pouch containing 15 gp.

Feature: Nomad's Instinct

You know the secret patterns and flow to the city of doors and can find passages through the urban sprawl that others would miss. When you are not in combat, you (and companions you lead) can travel between any two locations in Sigil twice as fast as your speed would normally allow.

Variant Child of Umbra: Disciple of the Veiled God

The Umbra-veil are a sister branch of the children of Umbra. Preferring to return to older forms of worship, they venerate what they call the Great Mystery, a deity shrouded by a veil. While the Umbra-kai have brought the deity into society with a name and a home, the Umbra-veil maintain that the deity should be distant and remote, not sullied by the material plane and its influences.

As a member of the Umbra-veil you are not welcome within the encampment of the Umbra-kai. Instead, you have ties to the Dahlia Sophia, a powerful organization with influence in nearly every sector of life in Sigil, from commerce to crime and even local politics.

Variant Feature: Dahlia Contact

You have a reliable and trustworthy contact who acts as your liaison to the Dahlia Sophia. You know how to get messages to and from your contact, even across planes; specifically, you know the local messengers, corrupt caravan masters, and seedy spelljammer captains who can deliver messages for you.
