You did not choose to become a Warlock. Whether your parents forced you as a coming of age ritual or you unwittingly made a deal with your patron, this was not your will. Because of this you despise the power you rely on in battle. No matter who your patron is you have a begrudging relationship with them. Maybe you don't know who your patron is and fear finding out. Perhaps you do know and the idea of doing anything for this entity fills you with dread. It is possible your patron is a benevolent being you have no qualms with, but you still hate that it requires something from you that you did not freely offer. Since choice was taken from you it is something you respect and cherish.

d4 | Pact Description |
---|---|
1 | I was tricked by my patron in a moment of desperation |
2 | My parents swore me to my patron at birth as an offering |
3 | I come from a family of warlocks serving the same patron. I was forced to make my pact when I came of age |
4 | My patron came to me in a vision offering something I sought for a simple deal. I awoke with an unwanted pact |
Somewhere on your body is some kind of marking that signifies your pact. If you were tricked into your pact by your patron it was placed there as a reminder of who you are indebted to. If you were thrust into your pact by family they most likely had you branded in your youth. It is a mark your relatives also bear. This mark can be a literal brand of burned flesh or a more elegant and detailed tattoo. Either way it is mark on our body you did not agree to bear. You often conceal it with the usual means if it's somewhere you can cover with clothing. If the mark is somewhere like your forehead you may resort to more extravagant means to hide it. This mark may have the added annoyance of glowing, itching, or causing pain if you speak against your patron, complete a favor for it, or ignore your pact.
