You have always wanted to help people and you can. You need to provide justice to the world. Not by slaying foul beasts, but by protecting the falsely accused. Many souls have been killed, but these people are hopefully not a part of it. See through the lies to find the truth. Are they guilty or happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time? There is no way to know unless you try to help.

Area of law

Every lawyer has a specific area they studied if they don’t do general stuff. Roll a d8 to see where you studied or choose it yourself:

d8 Area of law
1 Murder
2 Robbery
3 Organized crime
4 Blackmail
5 Kidnapping
6 Unexplained phenomena
7 Civil
8 Other or General (Choose or roll a d4: even number - General; odd number - other)

Feature: Testimony

Force a target creature to give a testimony of their experiences. Then you can do an insight check to see if specific parts of what they said were lies. If you ultimately find nothing in the testimony, you can save this testimony for later use. You can also press more later on if you get new evidence.

Suggested Characteristics

You try to help others, no matter the gravity of the situation. You always try to decipher the truth, no matter if it’s bad for your case or not. It matters not if you’re client is guilty or not, as long as the prosecution prevents you from lying, the true criminal will be uncovered.

d8 Personality Trait
1 I never make assumptions about people. Assumptions only lead to a bad case on my part. Never assume the worst or best of someone.
2 The more desperate a case is, the more I try to protect the innocent.
3 If I see a person who is all alone in the world, I can’t help but to give them a supporter.
4 I don’t mind living in poverty, as long as others are happy and okay.
5 When exposed to truly evil people, I feel sick to my stomach.
6 I don’t dwell on the past, for doing so means that today’s problems don’t get fixed.
7 I always think before I say, for that could incriminate me or my client when all I did was say something wrong.
8 I cannot bring myself to hurt others, even if it’s for the greater good.
d6 Ideal
1 Independence. People should not have to be pulled down by others believing they are guilty. (Chaotic)
2 Proof. Nothing can be on a whim, it has to have justification. (Lawful)
3 Consequentialism. The ends justify the means, as they say. (Chaotic)
4 Protection. Everyone deserves protection, even in the most dire circumstances. (Good)
5 Self-preservation. I help others for them a bit, but mostly for myself. (Neutral)
6 Rules. Rules are there to protect others, so it is best to uphold them to protect yourself and others. (Lawful)
d6 Bond
1 I don’t care what people think of me. I will expose the true perpetrators, no matter the cost to my image.
2 If you help the alone, you have my respect.
3 I cannot help but feel sympathy for the accused, and thus I help them.
4 While they may mess up, the prosecution are not my enemies. In fact, they are my friends in helping me challenge my ideas to find the true perpetrator.
5 The public must know they can come to me for help because they could slip my radar if they do not.
6 My little sister got killed and I got accused for it when it had nothing to do with me. Luckily my older sister protected me and proved me innocent as she was a lawyer. I owe her everything and I plan to pay it forward.
d6 Flaw
1 While I don’t distrust anyone, I cannot trust anyone either. Trust holds me from the truth.
2 I never do stuff for myself, meaning my health is at a detriment.
3 I am only a path to the truth, even if the that truth is… to be put lightly… unpleasant…
4 I sometimes fixate on one thing for too long and end up hurting my client in the process.
5 I have lost myself in the pursuit of truth.
6 I sometimes have to bend my morals if it leads it’s way to truth.
