You were a chieftain, hunter-gatherer, protector, father, mother, son, daughter of a large tribe or a close nit group of nomads. You came upon a stranger that gave you information of a relic that is sacred to your people. While skeptical of the stranger’s information, you could not ignore the possibility of it being true. You set out with a group of fighters to obtain the relic; while the relic was not there, you found evidence that it was at some point.
While making the return trip to your people, you see columns of smoke rising from your home. As your group races back, the devastation is staggering. Bodies strewn along the ground and outside of homes. You confirm that there were no survivors and provide your people, and family, with a proper burial. With rage encompassing you and the remaining members of your tribe, you set off to track down the culprit and exact your revenge upon them.
You manage to track down the one that slaughtered your people and engage in combat without hesitation. You see now the true source of destruction; the relic that you had been sent after to reclaim. Your party is decimated one by one, murdered by the relic they held sacred. Forced to retreat, you fail your people, your family, and yourself. After several days of anguish and self loathing, you begin again on your path to vengeance. You head to villages, towns, and cities seeking allies to hunt down your enemy and reclaim the relic in honour of the fallen. You are vengeance bound.

Suggested Characteristics
Your characteristics should reflect the experience of loss, distrust, and hatred.
As time progressed after your entire tribe was slaughtered by a stranger, your character would distrust all strangers at first. It would be difficult for party members to gain your trust; but not impossible. Characters with similar experiences, spending long periods of time trying to know your character, and those that have fought in battle with you have greater chances of earning your trust.
Enemies that harm those you have befriended are more likely to gain your attention in combat, and those that cause your friends to go unconscious will gain your rage.
